Back around 1980, I was in the House of Representatives and I was so excited to buy one of the very first mobile phones. Honestly I felt that thing was so cool. " (Al Gore)

0900 [01:17:50] "Then now there are more mobile phones than there are people in the world. Most of it in developing countries that had no landline telephone grid. And so they could leapfrog and get telephone service for the first time. " (Al Gore)

1200 [01:18:24] "Chile. A developing country, but it has great policy. You talk about excitement, this story gets me excited. At the end of 2013, the had 11 megawatts of solar. By the end of 2014, more than 400 megawatts. By the end of last year, more than 800 megawatts. " (Al Gore)

1400 [01:19:02] "Isn't that great? I love this. 13.3 gigawatts. And there are other countries and many regions in the world that are poised for this kind of breakout. We are seeing a real turning here. On a global basis, the world gets more energy from the sun each hour than the entire global economy uses for an entire year. If we increase the fraction of that that we harvest and use productively, then we can solve that part of the climate crisis. " (Al Gore)

1500 [01:19:46] "There has been a lot of discussion between India and U.S. We know that President Obama did make a call to Prime Minister Modi. What the outcomes were of those talks, we don't know yet. What we do know is John Kerry has been having repeated discussion. There was a one-hour meeting today with the environment minister. How all these translates into Indian's concerns being met still remains to be seen. " (woman 20)
